Job Title: Land Development Manager/Engineer – Grand Rapids/Holland, MI

Position Overview:
As a Land Development Manager, you will orchestrate the land development lifecycle for both our internal assets and external partnership projects. Your expertise will guide the initial land acquisition through to the final development completion, ensuring efficiency, innovation, and regulatory compliance at every turn. Reporting directly to the President, your role will demand a strong leadership presence across all phases of development, including initial land assessment, design and planning, regulatory approval, construction management, and final project delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Initiation and Design:
    • Evaluate potential land acquisitions for development suitability.
    • Spearhead the creation of initial community layouts and designs.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to finalize site plans and implement value engineering principles.
  • Regulatory Coordination and Approval:
    • Navigate the complexities of obtaining necessary approvals and permits from government agencies.
    • Develop and manage comprehensive development information packages.
    • Act as the primary liaison with townships and regulatory bodies to secure development approvals.
  • Construction Management:
    • Select and manage Trade Partner relationships, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
    • Oversee all development constructions, including utility installation and site work.
    • Work closely with the Development Coordinator to maintain adherence to the Development Proforma Construction Budget.
  • Reporting and Communication:
    • Provide detailed updates and reports to management and partners, highlighting progress against schedule and budget variances.
    • Engage in regular management meetings to ensure alignment with company objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of prior experience in land development/engineering
  • Strong understanding of the construction process, including design, engineering, and project management principles.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented approach, with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • B.S. Civil Engineering (or related), is preferred
