Engineering Manager (Automotive Product Engineering) / Direct Hire / Hastings, MI
Midwest Recruiters is seeking an Engineering Manager for a direct-hire opportunity with a diversified manufacturing client in the Hastings, MI area. This opportunity offers the chance to be a part of a team focused, tight-knit family culture. This position is primarily office and plant-based with some international travel.
DESCRIPTION:
The ideal candidate for this role will be a degreed engineer with 8+ years of experience developing products in the automotive sector and/or an individual with prior engineering management experience. To be successful in this role, this person should be a go-getter, with a high sense of urgency, a friendly attitude, hands-on approach, and works well with cross-functional teams. Must have excellent communication skills along with previous customer-facing experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Work cross-functionally across multiple departments to ensure products meet market needs, profitability goals, reliability requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Participate in APQP process
- Oversee applications engineering, quotation, product design, prototyping, tool design, product testing, product validation and execution, and manufacturing release.
- Interface with sales and customers to understand product requirements.
- Advise on design, cost alternatives, performance, and cost tradeoffs
- Communicate completion targets to stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of automotive product engineering experience
- 3-5 years of technical team leadership
- Proven ability to manage large product development projects from concept to launch.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally
- BS in Engineering or related
